Let's create momentum
Asking for help (a successful crowdfunder tale); gentle accountability; vision boards; and leaving Substack
When did you last ask for, or accept an offer of, help?
We live in uncertain times. Making progress with priorities at work can be tough when you feel anxious, stressed out or filled with self-doubt. Here’s what I believe: community is the antidote to stuckness and confusion; it’s a route out of disconnection. Sometimes you simply need help from others in order to take the next step or find the solution to your problem.
Community is the antidote to stuckness and confusion; it’s a route out of disconnection.
Plot 9 Maze Hill is a magical therapeutic garden and gathering space in Greenwich where I’m director of engagement and I co-host Plot 9 Presents…, a monthly speaker event, with my friend Andy Millns. Our first priority for 2024 is to install a composting loo. We launched a crowdfunder this month and hit 125% of our target in three days! Thank you to those of you who supported us.
Andy is the creator of this amazing space and asking for help - or accepting it when offered - is something he’s learning to do more often. It’s not always easy to ask for help; it’s especially hard to ask for financial support when we’re living through a cost of living crisis.
You need community and support to build momentum and get things done.
At Plot 9 Maze Hill we are grateful to our supporters whose donations will help us develop the site and offer a wide range of workshops and gatherings to Londoners throughout this year. We’ve talked about that loo for months but now 30 generous souls have declared their support and belief in our mission there’s a sense of urgency (not that kind… ha!) to get it built.
Because community boosts accountability and helps us create forward motion. Over here at Urban Curiosity HQ I’ve been working on something for people who have been going around in circles and need gentle encouragement to get unstuck and move in the right direction on a priority project.
Momentum Sprint starts on 5 February and is a five-day sprint where you’ll find a supportive community and practical framework to help you take action and create momentum on your next project.
Join my online sprint in February and let’s move forward together.
The first five people to register will get a Power Hour with me (valued at £100 and valid for two months). My areas of expertise include: writing, nonprofit career advice, creative confidence, fundraising, online business, facilitation and marketing without social media.
Everyone who signs up before 23:59 on Tuesday 30 January 2024 will get access to a free online vision board workshop. My Mindful Art Club members had a wonderful time making vision boards last Sunday and I’d love you to have that opportunity too.
